Who we are
Bells Forge began, as many good things do, with a shed, a few tools, and a long family tradition of working with their hands. Based in Ballarat, Victoria, the forge is the latest chapter in a lineage of tradespeople — butchers, boilermakers, carpenters, and blacksmiths — all respected for their skill, practicality, and attention to detail.
For years, the forge operated quietly as a passion project, a place to experiment, learn, and refine techniques after hours. Over time, that passion grew into something more — a working forge now offering handcrafted products and services to the public. Every piece that leaves the forge reflects a balance between old-world methods and modern function, built to be used, not just admired.
Bells Forge creates a diverse range of work, including solid timber furniture, knives, decorative metal and timber pieces, simple jewellery, and historically inspired weapons or training equipment such as LARP props or sparring weapons and shields. Alongside these are practical, hard-wearing tools — hammers, picks, and axes — made with the same attention to durability and detail.
Today, Bells Forge also welcomes commissioned work, collaborating closely with customers to bring unique ideas to life. Whether it’s a functional tool, a statement piece, or something entirely custom, each creation is shaped by hand, guided by experience, and made to last.
The website is a work in progress and more products will be added in due time. You can sign up for e-mail notifications when new items are added.
